What do we do when life takes us somewhere we never planned to go—and we have no explanation for why?

In Chayei Moharan 153, Rebbe Nachman suddenly leaves Breslov on a mysterious journey that no one around him understands. His travels take him through Navritch, Ostroh and eventually Zaslav, as his wife's serious illness turns the journey into a desperate search for healing.

The chapter culminates on Erev Shavuot with the heartbreaking passing of Rebbe Nachman's wife. Yet when Reb Nosson and the chassidim gather around him for Shavuot, they merit to hear a wondrous Torah—later recorded as Likkutei Moharan 67.

In this shiur, we explore uncertainty, upheaval, loss, and one small phrase from Reb Nosson that says so much: גם אז — "even then."

Welcome back to our weekly **Chayei Moharan** series as we explore Lesson 152 and return to one of the deepest ideas we've encountered so far: **the Baal HaSadeh — the Master of the Field.**

Rebbe Nachman tells Reb Nosson that while in Zlatipol he had already begun to understand something about the mysterious work of repairing souls. But now, his understanding had reached an entirely different level.

Even more remarkably, Rebbe Nachman connects this idea to **Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai and the Zohar**, while Reb Nosson gives us a glimpse into just how unique Rebbe Nachman's understanding of the Baal HaSadeh had become.
