Mission Statement

The Chassidus Learning Centre of Thornhill was developed to quench a tremendous thirst in our community for inspiration and a deeper connection to the Ribbono Shel Olam, through the derech and advice of the Baal Shem Tov and his spiritual progeny.  Through the writings of Rebbe Nachman of Breslov his great grandson, and all the other seforim hakedoshim written by his students and followers, the CLCT is a place where people of any level or background can connect to their soul on a deeper level by discovering a deeper meaning in life, and learning how to see the spiritual nature of everything in creation.

Why Chassidus?

We live in a time where darkness and impurity surround us on a level that has never been seen before.  A huge portion of the population is taking medication for depression or anxiety.  Our “online” lives are filled with falsehood as our social media profiles are plastered with pictures of the food we are about eat, but with no mention of the emptiness that we feel inside.   We see only carefully selected images of perfect families, but never the difficult issues that EVERY family has to face.  We are “blessed” with every type of technology imaginable , each device promising to make life easier, help us to be more organized, and to save time.  Yet somehow, we find ourselves more busy than ever, with no time to even stop to think about simple ideas like, “Why am I here?   What is my purpose?  Is there more to life than just the rat race?  How can I get in touch with my soul – my deeper inner essence?”

Chassidus uses the inner dimension of Torah to peel back the layers and allow us to see the true essence of existence that is hidden behind the coarse physical world we live in.  It inspires us and helps us to understand our spiritual roots, what our purpose is, and what our real goals should be.  In a world of darkness it helps us to uncover the light that shines from within the soul of every one of us.  So, if you feel spiritually connected to the G-d all of the time, are in touch with your own unique spiritual purpose, and are always overflowing with great happiness, then…  come and learn with us anyway, and share some of your simcha!  However, if you  are looking for deeper meaning in the world, then come and start your journey with us and help to add a little bit of light into the world.
